Voice Access Settings

If you can view screenshots within the application you can also operate it with gestures just in case you do not want to use voice commands but if you want to make certain gestures on the screen to access applications or predetermined actions, these will have to be configured in settings. For either Mac or Windows this series of steps works correctly, even if you want to use a drive to restore some files, it is the same process you only have to omit the USB Debugging step which is only necessary if you are using a smartphone with Android operating system, you can skip the permissions and try to restore the files with brute force.

From Android or iOS

In Android we can find some other alternatives that may ask us for root permissions because we are going to expose folders, files and somewhat confidential content, both ours and Android. One of the best alternatives is DiskDigger for files recovery, you can recover images and whole folders containing lots of information, we will show you the steps to follow for almost all Android and iOS applications …

1. Download and start DiskDagger from the Play Store
2. Enable root access
3. Select the partition or memory card to recover
4. Select which type of files you want to recover
5. Press OK to begin the analysis
6. Select the files you want to re-establish
7. Save Selected Files
8. Choose the folder where these recovered files will be saved
9. That’s it ! you can view the recovered files in any file manager

As it is with any application that we install on our smartphone, the same process can be followed, the only thing that changes is selecting the type of files that we want to recover, the rest remains the same. We have to take into account that if we have root access or jailbreak we will have access to applications with greater functions, share information or uploads directly to a server on our network, there are infinity of functions for root applications.

Using TeamViewer with your smartphone and PCTeamViewer has proven to be a very efficient tool for today, as a result, many more platforms have been created in which people all over the world can communicate for the purpose of work or give assistance from home, so many other alternatives that could be used are currently being developed. Imagine, being in the main office of Vofeel in China and one of our employees in Spain needs assistance with repairing a device but the instruction manual is in Chinese, with TeamViewer we could solve this problem with just an internet connection and a code generated by the software on our PC.

TeamViewer universal

Since TeamViewer became a success, its creators have been talking about expanding the platform, today TeamViewer has applications for smartphones with Android operating system, iOS, Windows Phone and even smartphones with BlackBerry operating system. This is a great feature of TeamViewer, wherever you are you can use your computer or your smartphone to remotely access another smartphone or computer in a very simple way which we will explain shortly:

Control another device (Smartphone and PC)

The steps are simple, you have to be TeamViewer installed on both devices, both the sender and receiver have to have it to make the connection and also have internet connection, those are the requirements:

1. Launch TeamViewer on your smartphone and PC
2. Enter the ID of the device you want to control and select remote control
3. Copy the authentication key from the other device
4. Paste the authentication key and click accept
5. You can now view the other device.

Note: This process is universal for all devices, but it only works from smartphone to PC or PC to PC, but not from PC to smartphone, a single process but with different interfaces.

Control smartphones from PC

As mentioned earlier you can not control a smartphone from a PC, but this rule is broken with a TeamViewer extension. If you want to control a mobile device you must install a second application called TeamViewer QuickSupport, which you can easily find in the app stores, the only problem is that it’s not available on BlackBerry. It involves the same process but with a different application for smartphones, no additional procedure is necessary because it is universal and the previous one can be used as long as the correct TeamViewer application is installed.

TeamViewer Host (Android)

This could be one of the best tools in TeamViewer and it is available for smartphones with Android operating system, something very usual because of the versatility and flexibility offered by Android in the functions of its operating system. This tool offers features for controlling the smartphone in a way that even when we do not have active features or applications such as TeamViewer QuickSupport we can still control and give support to Android devices.


Obviously, we must know the person to whom we are giving our TeamViewer ID because one way or another he or she can violate the authentication key with some software within or outside their network. If you want to give remote assistance we recommend a device with high-end features because the streaming and some functions like TeamViewer chat can greatly impair performance and functions, if you want to correctly view the other device live, it’s better to make use of a high-end device.

Control your smartphone with a mouse and keyboardThe way things are structured to work is very important, everything is a system that functions with different parts working together to achieve a singular purpose. As we taught in one of our previous entries on you how to use your smartphone as a mouse and keyboard. Now we are going to teach you how to do this inversely and use the components of your PC to manage your smartphone, almost as if your smartphone was the PC.

Previous requirements

Before installing the application we have to take into account what is needed depending on if we are using a laptop or a desktop PC. To begin with the synchronization we need the two applications and some extras, here at Vofeel we will tell you what you need in advance in order to establish good communication between your PC, smartphone and PC components.

  1. Android version 4.1 or higher
  2. Install JAVA on your computer ( the current version)
  3. USB cable for connecting smartphone and PC
  4. On your smartphone activate the USB Debugging mode
  5. Download DeskDock to your smartphone from the Google Play Store
  6. Download DeskDock desktop application from its official website
  7. Acquire drivers for your smartphone (if they do not work manually)

How does it work?

Actually, your smartphone will become a secondary screen with which you can control with a mouse or a keyboard as long as they are connected to the computer from which we will access. It will be like connecting another PC and using it with our own components (mouse, keyboard, bugles) but as an alternative screen, as long as the smartphone is connected to the PC.

Getting Started with DeskDock

DeskDock is one of the applications that most people expected to use in controlling  their smartphone in a completely personalized way, many users have been demanding for this because they spend so much time on a computer  and they would like to be able to see and handle notifications, applications and some tools on their smartphone as an alternative screen on the PC. Here in Vofeel we will teach you how to synchronize applications successfully as long as you have all the prerequisites:

  1. Launch the DeskDock app on your smartphone
  2. Connect your smartphone to your computer via USB
  3. Verify that you can access your smartphone files from My Computer (For Windows)
  4. Start DeskDock Server (the Computer Application)
  5. Check the status (On / Off) of the smartphone in the DeskDock application
  6. Verify that you can use the mouse and keyboard

Default settings

If you have any problems connecting DeskDock to your smartphone and the desktop application, it could be due to the default configuration of the smartphone application, if so, you can do it manually and press connect on the smartphone application and then start with the DeskDock Server on your computer. You can also change the configuration of some keys from the applications’ settings if you do not agree with how they work.

Creating your own Wi-Fi network via your smartphoneOur smartphone has many applications that we do not know of, just like most apps that are kept hidden until we meet someone who is very curious and can decode them to make the smartphone function better or to make the smartphone more useful. There are hidden features in our smartphones, a very clear example are the hidden menus that enable us to view the imei, configure networks and even hide other menus on our phones. At no point in time will we find any tutorial on our smartphone that demonstrates their existence to us, what we have discovered has been because we encountered a problem and found a way to solve it or we simply got the information from the internet.

Wi-Fi connection point

We can use our smartphone as a Wi-Fi connection point and transmit internet signals to those who are within this network. This feature is quite hidden in the smartphone because it is a feature that is not higlighted, it has always been present as an alternative in case we do not have an internet connection, however it is a great tool if we want to share an internet connection.

  1. Enter in to your smartphone settings
  2. Access network & wireless networks
  3. Move to the Portable Wi-Fi Zone option
  4. Configure the access Point Key and Name
  5. Activate the Wi-Fi Zone
  6. Ready! You can begin sharing signals

Network Precautions

We know that a free Wi-Fi connection can be accessed by whosoever is within the network range, however if we are a little bit knowledgeable about networks we know that this leaves us vulnerable to cyber attacks. The range is not very broad, it will always depend on the quality of the Wi-Fi signal on our smartphone.

Game sharing

There are many games which you can play in LAN mode if you are on the same network, this is the perfect excuse to use our smartphone as an access point to establish the same network between several devices and enjoy a LAN game. It’s like being in a cybercafe and playing Counter-Strike among several players, they are all within the same network so you enjoy it without any deceleration of the internet connection.

Data Transfer

As mentioned in one of our previous articles we can transfer files on the same network between PC and smartphone, but it can also be done from smartphone to smartphone as long as they have an application like ES File Explorer that offers them this capability and are connected to the same network. If your bluetooth is not working you can activate the access point and transfer files on LAN.

Emulate PS1 games on your smartphoneIf you are a video game lover, it will give you a bit of nostalgia to see the graphics that we used to think were incredible. Remember how we used to have to blow the dust out of our Nintendo cartridges in order to continue playing them and how we had to confirm if our PS2 was displaying a red screen or if the game  we were playing was showing. If you went through that we can tell you here at Vofeel that you can re-experience the feeling of playing a PS1, if you have a high end or mid-range smartphone you can play many video games perfectly, you will only need a lot of memory to save all your favorite games.

PSX Emulators

If you have ever wanted to relive this feeling we can say that on a PC it is much easier, there are even executable files that directly bring all the adapted video games so that you can save games without using memory card or you can save your progress using the systems option, if you have a PC you can also find PS2 emulators. It is also possible with a smartphone with Android operating system, a mid-range smartphone is enough for you to play many adventure games that you believed you’ve forgotten about. On the network you can get executable files or disk image files (.iso) in which you can load into an emulator and start playing.

ePSXe for Android

This could be the best emulator for smartphones with Android operating system, here in Vofeel we recommend it because it is very similar to a computer, it has the same procedure and it is not necessary to have superuser permissions. Other emulators may appear simpler but entail greater difficulty to be installed and configured. We will show you in a very simple way how to launch games in ePSXe, the most recommended way to enjoy PS1 games:

1. Download ePSXe with your BIOS depending on the version of the operating system you use and place it in the SD memory.
2. Manually install it on your smartphone
3. Go to Preferences
4. Select bios file and select the Bios that you download.
5. Go to the main screen of ePSXe
6. Select run Game and wait for a list to load
7. Select a game from the list
8. And that’s it, ready to play !!!

 Games in .iso format

This should be the format in which the PS1 games should be downloaded, place them on either side of the SD memory and then when you refresh, the list of games on the smartphone will appear without problems. All over the web you can find .ISO files of PS1 games, as well as blogs exclusively dedicated to .iso files. These .iso are also compatible with computer emulators, so we will not have any problems in acquiring them on the internet.


If you go to the preferences section you can change many options, what is mostly changed is the size of the buttons because it takes up a lot of screen space depending on what kind of smartphone we are running the emulator on. We can display FPS also in the initial screen, modify the buttons and much more, the Bios will always be necessary and we must locate it as a minimum requirement before executing any .iso files in the emulator.

Saving battery on our smartphonesSmartphone batteries have always presented a big problem, it has been  perhaps one of the most worked on issues since the use of smartphone apps increase the consumption of resources unlike the old smartphones that have few technical resources like 256mb RAM, little internal memory and a single core processor which may not be suitable for the applications we have today.

For manufacturers this could generate bad publicity for their old products because to launch a product now and in the next 2 years it is not able to support applications or function at the current level of performance is something that manufacturers should consider before having a broad list of smartphones, like Samsung, Huawei, Blu and others who do not think about the continuity of users but to generate more revenue with their new generation releases. Just like developers who create applications that demand more resources, all applications require a minimum version of the operating system in order to run, this results in leaving out some smartphones from the market because even if you are able to download the applications you can’t get them to run adequately.

Adjust the brightness of the screen

One of the things that most expends battery life is when the brightness of the screen is very high, this can be modified very easily by going to screen settings on the smartphone. Having the brightness very high can also damage our eyesight, although when there is a lot of sun we may not be able to view the screen of our smartphone properly but one of the highly recommended options we can use is the automatic brightness that will set a level of brightness suitable to sunlight, night time or whatever condition we find ourselves in. Too much use of the brightness keeps the screen of the smartphone very active and this affects battery life.

Enable airplane mode when the smartphone is not in use

The airplane mode will deactivate all the networks and signals of our smartphone, perhaps it can be one of the best ways to save battery. When we are engaged in a certain activity and we know that we will not be using our phone, the best way to save battery is by activating airplane mode, we will not have active wireless networks, mobile networks or signals and this will let the smartphone have access to offline applications but without an internet connection. Leaving the smartphone active consumes many resources in the background.

Minimize the use of widgets

The Widgets that we place on our home screen are little icons that give a very nice look to it, but just like in computers, keeping a desktop screen full of icons greatly increase the consumption of device resources. Just like creating shortcuts to applications that keep notifications active to reflect them in the application icon, we must be careful not to fill the entire screen with widgets and shortcuts.

Uninstall the app that consumes the most resources

Even though it is the best application that we have installed on our device we need to identify if it is beneficial to have it installed on our smartphone. In our phone settings we can view battery usage and evaluate which apps are consuming more resources. Uninstalling it would be much better for us as it would free up resources for our device.

Clear cache memory

Just as on a PC we can see that having an accumulated cache memory can make the device run slowly. In the app stores we will find many applications that can help us clear our memory cache, it is very important to do this from time to time. Applications like Link2SD have functions to free the cache memory every time we enter the application.

Scanning documents with your smartphoneSmartphones have been a tool that we must thank technology for daily, in the office we can use our smartphone as a tool for sending information between colleagues. Although many see it as a waste of time or a device that can distract you from appreciating life, we have to keep in mind that if we did not have certain tools we would still be writing letters by hand and posting them by mail and it will take a long time if you want it to be delivered to another country, now you can just open a chat conversation and communicate with anyone from any part of the world.

Technology has opened many doors to the world in terms of communication, entertainment and distance learning. There are applications for smartphones that help us to learn a new language by practicing daily and chatting with natives of different countries to practice pronunciations (through videoconferences), so that when we go to a foreign country where our language is not spoken we don’t get lost in translation and we can communicate better and have a richer experience of the country’s culture.

The smartphone as an office tool

Although it is possible to be distracted with the different applications a smartphone has, we need to give it a primary use and if we use it for work at the office it can be a great tool. With certain applications we can view Microsoft Office files, review our personal finances, edit flowcharts and work schemes, pay for bills and much more.

Scanning Documents

If we do not have a scanner or printer to do this job, we can count on our smartphone as a great alternative. Our phones’ camera can  be used to capture a complete document  and process it to an image or PDF file, the quality of the file will depend on the quality of our camera, a high quality will always be maintained that it is even possible to zoom without losing image quality. Below are the steps to follow:

1.  Install and download CamScanner from the app store
2. Touch the Camera icon to start the scan
3. Focus the content you want to scan
4. Tap the capture button and wait for the application to automatically crop the              content
5. Save file
6. Export it in the format you want
7. Use the share option to send it via email

Apart from CamScanner there are many other applications that perform the same function, the difference with some is that they do the scanning automatically but  you have got to focus on a reference point as if you were taking a picture. The good thing about these applications is that when capturing the image we can export it as a PDF or as an image, and we can also make use of the zoom. Among other applications is ScanBot, Evernote Scannable (iOS), Genius Scan or Tiny Scanner, all with many distinct features but same purpose.

The files are not being saved

One of the common problems is that files are not saved, they are temporarily kept for export but are not stored on our smartphones. The solution is to check the configuration of the application and ensure that the storage is internal or external depending on which we want. Also check the folder where it is being saved as it can be a folder error, if you still have these problems it is best to change the source folder where the documents will be stored.

Use your smartphone as a mouse and keyboardSmartphones have become tools for multiple tasks, not just for making calls and sending text messages, with the advent of apps for smartphones there have been many ways to use it, both for entertainment and for everyday life. They have facilitated so many aspects of daily life that are not only being developed to make things easier, but to deliver greater performance and do things faster, a clear example is the application that uses our camera to capture a mathematical equation and solve it and also show us step by step how it was solved.

Technology has many applications for everyday life, it depends on if we utilize it for good or just for entertainment, this is not to say that entertainment is bad or a waste of time, but we usually concentrate so much on this aspect that we waste the good profits of technology. Many applications have different functions, if you think you can not give good use to the apps that exist today, we will show you how to use it as a great tool and even more if you do not have a mouse or keyboard.

Using your smartphone as a mouse

A smartphone with Android operating system or iOS can be used as an alternative to a computer mouse, this could be very useful if ours is lost or damaged. There are many applications that can perform this function and here in Vofeel we will show you how to go about it.

  • 2. Install the Windows, Linux or Mac application client
  • 3. Connect the PC and the smartphone to the same Wi-Fi network
  • 4. In the smartphone application add a device (if you are asked for an IP address you will have to copy it from the PC or scan a QR code)
  • 5. Check the status on the touch panel

If you follow these steps you can safely configure any smartphone as a mouse for your computer, one of the most recognized applications that follows this series of steps is Remote Mouse, when we refer to installing the client on our computer, we mean the client that provides the application for our smartphone with the same name for our computer, it is necessary to receive the movement in the touch panel of the application while we are using it on our smartphone.

Using it as a Keyboard

The steps to follow to use it as a keyboard are almost the same as that of using it as a mouse, the difference is that we use the keyboard of our smartphone in conjunction with the client on our computer to send the keystrokes and keys. A very useful tool if we need to type on our desktop computer without getting up from bed, it all depends on the utility that you give to this application.

  • 1. Install application on smartphone
  • 2. Install the Windows, Linux or Mac application client
  • 3. Connect the PC and the smartphone to the same Wi-Fi network
  • 4. In the smartphone application add a device (if you are asked for an IP address you need to copy it from the PC or scan a QR code)
  • 5. Check if the keys of our smartphone are being used simultaneously with our computer.

Unified Remote, two in one

Just as we can only use it in a way there are developers who have dedicated themselves to having an all in one, with the possibility of applying both functions in a single application. The most popular application is Unified Remote, it is only available for phones with Android and Windows operating systems, the iOS operating system is left out however they have got other alternatives in the application stores, you just have to search, Unified Remote is currently the most popular in the apps market.
